Coalition of American Societies for Anatomy (CASA). HAPS, the American Association of Clinical Anatomists (AACA), and the American Association of Anatomists (AAA) have formed CASA to give our members more access to the "cutting edge" in anatomy!
The American Physiological Society (APS) (http://www.the-aps.org) is a nonprofit devoted to fostering education, scientific research, and dissemination of information in the physiological sciences. Members can participate in a wide variety of educational (http://www.the-aps.org/education/index.htm) and career opportunities (http://www.the-aps.org/careers/careers1/), as well as in the Teaching of Physiology Section with other teaching professionals. The Society’s education journal, Advances in Physiology Education (http://advan.physiology.org/), is a highlight of the publications program.
APS Affiliate Membership
The American Physiological Society welcomes HAPS affiliate members at a discount membership cost at their site. The APS will be happy to find sponsors for you if needed.
The American Association of Anatomist (AAA) (http://www.anatomy.org) is a nonprofit founded in Washington, D.C. in 1888, for the "advancement of anatomical science." Today, AAA is the professional home for biomedical researchers and educators focusing on anatomical form and function.
AAA Affiliate Membership
HAPS members, you can use THIS LINK for a discounted membership with AAA. Choose "HAPS Affiliate (E-Membership)" on the form.
The recipient is presented with a plaque and a $4,000 honorarium, travel support for two nights, and is asked to organize an education symposium or present a lecture at the following year's Annual Meeting. The nomination form can be found on the AAA website.
AAA Outreach Grants
AAA’s Outreach Grant Program provides funding for workshops, symposia, and meetings organized by AAA members. Supported activities may either be educational—such as anatomy workshops for high school students—or scientific. Targeted audiences include researchers, educators, and students at all levels.

The Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME)
The Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME) is a membership organization dedicated to improving the quality of medical education by bringing together individuals and organisations with interests and responsibilities in medical and healthcare education. Their goals are to:
- Promote high quality research into medical education
- Provide opportunities for developing medical educators
- Disseminate good evidence based educational practice
- Inform and advise Governmental and other organisations on medical educational matters
- Develop relationships with other organisations and groupings in healthcare education
ASME holds an annual three day Scientific Meeting, around 5 to 6 day meetings on topics of interest in medical and healthcare education and also runs introductory and more advanced courses on healthcare education research and educational leadership.
ASME in conjunction with Blackwell Publishing publishes the leading science education journal Medical Education, and has recently launched The Clinical Teacher.
ASME also publishes a series of booklets on medical education topics and these are currently under revision with the aim to produce accessible guides for new students of healthcare education at Masters degree level.
